ALAN T. CATHCART is a Director in the Los Angeles International Tax practice of KPMG. He is a regional specialist in international and corporate taxation, providing tax consulting and planning services to domestic and foreign clients on international transactions. Areas of concentration include international corporate investment structures, foreign tax credit and deferral issues, and similar complex transactions. Mr. Cathcart has practiced in the area of international tax since 1976, formerly as a member of the Washington, D.C. law firm of Lee, Toomey & Kent, as Director of International Taxation with Arthur Andersen LLP and Deloitte, and as Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his JD degree magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974, and served as law clerk to the late Judge Theodore Tannenwald, Jr. of the United States Tax Court. He is a frequent speaker and writer on international tax topics.
