DONETTE M. DEWAR is a Partner at Baker & McKenzie in Houston. Ms. Dewar practices in the areas of international taxation, structured finance, and financial instruments. She has substantial experience in advising multinational energy and high-tech clients on the tax aspects of international mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings; financial derivatives; hedging transactions; notional principal contracts; and various financing techniques.  Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, Ms. Dewar was a senior tax director of a major international energy company and a global tax senior manager with a Big Five accounting firm.  Ms. Dewar is the author of The Proposed Contingent Nonperiodic Payment NPC Regulations, Corporate Taxation, (July/August 2004); Corporations Doing Business Abroad, Tax Advisors Planning Series U.S., (RIA February 2004); and Federal Taxation, Texas Tech Law Review, Fifth Circuit Symposium Editions 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96.  Ms. Dewar is a member of the American Bar Association (Tax Section), the Texas Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association. Ms. Dewar earned her B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from The Pennsylvania State University and her J.D. from The University of Virginia School of Law.  She is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas.
