Ted Handel is Of Counsel in the Real Estate Department of Loeb & Loeb in Los Angeles.  Mr. Handel’s practice focuses on the development of affordable housing projects, the formation and management of nonprofit organizations, and the use of New Markets Tax Credits. He is involved in all aspects of the development of affordable housing projects for families, seniors, and persons with special needs, and is experienced in structuring financing for such housing through conventional loans, government subsidies, and federal and state low-income housing tax credit programs.  Prior to joining Loeb & Loeb, he was Associate General Counsel for National Equity Fund, Inc., one of the nation’s largest nonprofit syndicators of federal low-income housing tax credits.  At NEF, he was responsible for closing its investments in affordable housing projects in California, including forming investment limited partnerships, reviewing and negotiating loan documents, and coordinating due diligence for projects. Mr. Handel advises organizations on matters related to establishing nonprofit corporations and qualifying them for federal and state tax exemption.  In addition, he counsels nonprofits on governance and management issues. Mr. Handel graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Southern California.  He earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School
