William C. Barrett is Managing Director, Tax, Export & Customs for Applied Materials, Inc. in Santa Clara, California.  Applied Materials is the world’s largest producer of semiconductor manufacturing equipment with operations in over 20 countries.  He is a CPA and holds an MPA degree (tax specialization) from the University of Texas at Austin and an undergraduate business and economics degree from Hastings College, Nebraska.  He is the current President of Santa Clara Valley Tax Executives Institute (TEI); is a member of the Silicon Valley Tax Director’s Group; and is a member of Joint Venture Silicon Valley’s Tax Policy Group.
